Right Now...

We have just launched “The 21st Century Glaze Project” web site. After a year of collecting and testing glaze recipes from Artists and Schools throughout the U.S., Canada, Hungary and Italy our site is ready for you. Release ONE is modest. As everyone knows, it always takes longer to do something than expected. Rather than wait to complete the site we are sharing the first step with you.

It contains 325 recipes for glazes that include oxidation and reduction, high-fire, mid- fire and low-fire. The search tool allows you to customize your search to include glazes that meet your specific needs.

You may set criteria for:

  1. Material: glaze, slip, clay body, etc.
  2. Environment : Oxidation, Reduction, Salt, etc.
  3. Firing Range: Cone 022 thru Cone 14
  4. Color: Red, Yellow, Blue, Black, etc.
  5. Opacity: Transparent, Translucent, Semi Opaque, etc
  6. Surface: Matte, Semi-Matte, Gloss, etc.

Once you have found a recipe, the batch calculator will print a batch-compounding sheet for the number of grams that you plan to make.
